Live, love and learn

Most of the beaches I have visited are virtual ones. I live in a relatively quiet town with a few small beaches but they are all connected to lakes and larger ditches. Though I have visited the coast quite a few times when I was younger and have spent some time at an actual beach, the memories of them remain vague. I remember the annoyance at the mix of sand and salty water that made my hair feel dirty, the considerable disappointment when I found out that swimming in the ocean was not the mermaid experience that I had hoped for but what I remember best is the bits of sands that ended up on my bum whilst that part of my bare body had never even touched the surface. I suppose my inner pervert truly manifested herself at such young age already (darn you sand, trying to touch my underaged bum!). In all seriousness, the beach did not even come close to the fun, movie-like experience I oughted it to be, but what does though?

I grew up in a time in which life just seems disappointing due to movies and tv shows sugarcoating seemingly realistic situations and creating idealized versions of them. Tv has made heartbreak seem beautiful and losing dear ones seems like nothing but an one time heartache. I suppose in some way, we bloggers do the same. What I would give for heartbreaks as beautiful as the words we describe them with and heartaches that only last for a blog post. Fortunately, the nostalgia eases the pain of these distressful stories. It may feel like it takes an eternity but eventually the agony fades and the wounds turn to scars. Scars of loss and heartbreak are ones you will most likely carry with you for a lifetime but additionally you will also carry the wisdom and lessons you have learned amongst them as you carry yourself forth with grace, knowledge and kindness. I suppose that is the basic principle of life, the three L’s; live, love and learn ♥

PS. I love how this meant to be sassy post turned into short, rather heartfelt life lesson. Oh, the irony…

“If you are not very careful
Your possessions will possess you
TV taught me how to feel
Now real life has no appeal
It has no appeal”
