Confession time: I have never actually watched Baywatch and frankly, I really am not that interested in watching the 2017 Zac Efron/Dwayne Johnson movie either. However, I couldn’t help but use the iconic foxy lifeguards and beachy vibes as a source of inspiration for this post. Continue reading

Give yourself time to heal

Happy new week! It is the last full week of 2016, how bizarre is that? The year has once again truly flown by and it felt like an overall whirlwind. Though I don’t want to spill too many words regarding 2016 (I’ll save that for a later post), it is undeniable that it is becoming more and more tempting by the day to do so. The realization that it is almost 2017 is something indescribable and provokes so many emotions within me, most of which are incredibly contradicting and it simply won’t leave my mind.

There was one lesson I learned this year that I deemed important enough to write a seperate blog post about; give yourself time to heal. It is not the most quoteable life lesson, nor is it the most memorable but exactly that makes it so important. It is such a forgettable lesson, one that I have admittedly forgotten quite often as well but it is so incredibly important and I can’t stress that enough. My year has been full of rough patches (image), after which I never gave myself the time to relax and simply heal. I admittedly did have long periods of unproductivity but the stress always remained. In the end, I had never actually given myself a chance to rest and rejuvinate at all.

It is okay to feel sad, all of us do sometimes; especially during this cold and blue season. It is important to let yourself be sad for a bit and not beat yourself up about it. But after that, you should not forget to give yourself time to pull it back together before delving back into your everyday routine. What I am trying to say is that recovery takes time and that there is absolutely nothing wrong about it.

“I will be your home
Keep you warm when it’s cold
I will try to be what you need when you’re low
I can only promise the girl that I am
I’ll do anything that I can
Meet me on the road to recovery”

I must not fear

“I must not fear.  Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
